These virtual platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and WhatsApp, educated the general public of Pakistan with abundance of information regarding hygienic and healthy lifestyle. With the help of social media, people sorted to exercise at home, healthy dieting, proper medication and sanitizing from germs during the lockdown in pandemic situation which they were not consistently practiced previously. This research intends to explore general public’s dependency on social media for hygiene, and its impact on their lives during their lockdown. This quantitative research consists of survey method with a convenient sample of 200 residents of Lahore consisting of 4 different age brackets. The data predicts that people with high age took social media messages of exercise, diet, medication and sanitization more seriously and applied precautions aptly while respondents with low age bracket were less worried about diet but more concern about body exercises and sanitizing. Respondents from almost all the age brackets indicated towards their learning about medical understanding of a disease and its treatment. The study found out that people with less interaction with social media relied more on it with strong impact. It also indicates that social media has made people more conscious about healthy exercises, nutritious diet and authentic medication for disease free life. The study focuses on exploring how the myth of white beauty is a traumatic experience for the black women and how do the issues of white beauty and gender discrimination contribute to the wretchedness of black women and cast depreciating effects on their psyche. The conceptual framework employed in the study is Freud’s psychoanalytical theory of repressed unconscious which resultantly cultivates psychological problems in individuals. The theory has been applied on the texts to throw light on the effects of unconsciously suppressed memories and emotions on the psyche of Pecola and Dorcas. In this context, a quantitative cross-sectional research design with a survey was carried out to find out the gender-specific differences in the perception of students. The structured student questionnaire on student-teacher interaction (QTI) by Nugent (2009) was used to gather data. To this end, 300 students were selected (150 male and 150 female students) from various disciplines from a public university in the city of Lahore through a convenient sampling technique. The results revealed the gender-specific differences in the interaction between teachers and students; it was found that male teachers are significantly higher in their attitude and attention-holding skills compared to female teachers. The sample of the study comprised teachers (N=100) and parents (N=80) from the Loralai, District. The participants were selected through purposive sampling technique. On behalf of the female students a questionnaire was designed to elicit data from the sample. The collected data was analyzed through t-test. Consistent indicators for low inclination towards higher education were found to be cultural issues, opposition to co-education, low socio-economic status, size of the family, early marriages, distantly situated educational institutions and low parental educational background. Moreover, lack of parental involvement and their differential attitude towards sending their daughters to co-education institutions for higher studies was inversely correlated with female students’ inclination towards higher studies. In this novel, Shafak discusses the experiences of a prostitute and how she encounters physical and psychological violence. The writer has particularly discussed the unjust treatment of sex workers in Istanbul. In this misogynistic world, victimization and marginalization of particular classes of society is exceedingly pervasive. This particular class of sex workers encounters huge discrimination and persistent intolerance. Elif Shafak’s character Leila in ‘10 Minutes 38 Seconds in this Strange World’ represents these classes. She is a prostitute who has been compelled to enter this profession and this research attempts to look into those very reasons. Such characters have to carry the social stigma attached to their profession even in liberal societies such as America and Turkey. The researchers look into the savage and merciless treatment that Leila has to undergo solely due to the fact that she is a prostitute. The most heart-wrenching aspect is that though she entered that profession not by choice, she still has to tolerate constant brutality and injustice not only from society but from her own flesh and blood as well. The current examination expects to explore the abjection and belittling attitude confronted by Leila. The research is designed as a quantitative research. A survey of 5641 school dropout children in Sindh is done with the help of a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The results of the research show that more than 10% of the children have reported that insecurity on the way from home to school is a cause of their school dropout. The quantitative analysis of the second section of the Constitution related to human rights and principles of policy for government in terms of nouns and personal pronouns to represent generic pronouns and its implication for gender representation in a legal document was carried out through simple concordance program 4.0.5 by generating word list of data to find the frequencies. Moreover, the basic human rights of dignity, education, health care, financial security, employment opportunities, and equality in all respects ensured to all the citizens of state are discussed and social realizations of these rights for transgender are explored. The findings reveal that transgender persons neither have any representation in the Constitution of Pakistan nor they are the recipients of basic human rights in Pakistani society as compared to other marginalized groups like women, children and differently able people. However, the bay between the knowledge and implementation is yet to be bridged.Covid-19 and its aftermaths are leaving their visible marks on almost all spheres of economy, consequently, the restrictive measures put by the government led to abrupt school closures and absence of social life and called for additional contribution of parents. WHO, UNDP and other global bodies’ reports on the aftermaths of pandemic highlighting the need to meet the emotional and psychological needs of the young children. The situation has intensified the parents’ role in general and mothers in particular, we hypothesize that mothers if use their emotional intelligence can help developing a sustainable youth. The sensitivity and the relative importance led us to use a mixed research design as endorsed by Tashakkori &amp; Teddlie (1998), Greene (2007) and Dorneyi, (2007) who call it “multiple ways of seeing and hearing” (p. 20). This mixed design helped in unearthing the deep-set concepts in the minds of research subjects. Results showed a significant relationship between mother’s EI, and child cognitive development in the form of better interpersonal behaviour and better academic results. Mothers with high EI reported a better relationship with the respective children. In conclusion, these findings support the notion that a mother’s EI could have a significant impact on a child’s cognitive development ultimately leading to a need for future research focusing on Mothers’ EI as a tool for the sustainable development of the youth of Pakistan.</p> 2022-03-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Ms Seema Khalid, Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi The Relationship Of Body Shape Satisfaction With Personal Intimacy And Sexual Satisfaction Among Married Females 2022-02-15T13:34:57+00:00 Sheeba Farhan Yumna Ismail <p>The purpose of the current study was to investigate the association between body shape, intimacy and sexual satisfaction in the life of married females. It has been hypothesized that there is a significant relationship of body shape, intimacy and sexual satisfaction of married females. Also with respect to the duration of marriage, impact of body shape, intimacy and also sexual satisfaction has been analyzed. Sample of 293 married females, with age range of 25-28(M=1.96, SD=.1714) years was chosen through convenient purposive sampling technique. Scales used are Body Shape Satisfactions Scale, Personal Assessment of Intimacy in relationship scale (PAIR) and Sexual Satisfaction Scale. Correlation is used through statistical analysis on data through Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS -25). The findings of the current research revealed that there is significant weak negative correlation of body shape satisfaction with sexual satisfaction in married females (<em>r</em>=-.20 <em>p</em>=0.01); body shape satisfaction with personal intimacy (<em>r</em>=-.232 <em>p</em>=0.01) and a positive moderate correlation of sexual satisfaction with personal intimacy (<em>r</em>=.694 <em>p</em>=0.01). The results also show that there is no significant difference between body shape satisfaction and years of marriage of married females however, there is a significant correlation between years of marriage and sexual satisfaction, also shows the significant relationship of Body shape, intimacy and sexual satisfaction may result in dysfunctional and dissatisfying sexual experiences and the study suggests that incorporating body image intervention into therapy for sexual problems may be useful.</p> 2022-03-08T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Dr Sheeba Farhan, Yumna Ismail
